SUPPLEMENTS - DO WE NEED THEM? |
What are supplements in relation to vitamins? Well, vitamins you have all heard about, and they all seem to have numbers, like vitamin A, B and so on.
Supplements - they are not so easy. Supplements can be anything from weight gain powders to steroids to ginseng. Here is someone more knowledgeable on supplements than I: my wife. She says
"As a schoolteacher the word supplement to me means something in addition to what you already have, or are taking. A supplement is therefore something you take in addition to your normal diet, or to your normal drug routine (God forbid!). In this respect, vitamin and mineral pills are supplements. However, I would use the word for such substances as Devil's Claw, Cranberry, Ginkgo Biloba (don't ask me how to spell it, Ginseng, and for athletics cheats, ephedrine and steroids would be supplements to what they normally ingest)." |

A supplement is thus merely something in addition your normal intake.

Supplements are supplements, so it would be wrong to use them as anything else. |
